House resolution introduced on W.T.C. memorial

U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, whose district includes the World Trade Center site, introduced a resolution this week expressing House of Representative support for the W.T.C. memorial. All 28 of his Republican and Democratic colleagues in the New York delegation have signed on as co-sponsors.

Nadler has previously called for federal funds to help pay for the W.T.C. memorial, which wil cost hundreds of millions of dollars. If passed, the resolution will not provide any money, but it is meant to encourage the efforts of the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation, which wants to raise $500 million for some of the costs of the memorial and W.T.C. cultural center.

Nadler, a Democrat, has convinced some powerful Republican members of the New York delegation to sign onto the resolution including Rep. Thomas Reynolds, a House leader on the Rules Committee, and Reps. Jim Walsh and John Sweeney, both members of the Appropriations Committee.
